This product marks the first of five such sets for issue this year by the U.S. Mint as a part of the America the Beautiful Quarters® Program. Found inside this specific release are three collector grade examples of the White Mountain National Forest Quarters. The three coins of the set include:

  • one uncirculated quarter from the Philadelphia Mint
  • one uncirculated quarter from the Denver Mint
  • one proof quarter from the San Francisco Mint

All three America the Beautiful Quarters are mounted together on one plastic card with the front showing a photographic image of a portion of White Mountain National Forest. The back side of the card includes a brief description of the forest, located mainly in New Hampshire, and it includes information about the coins along with a Certificate of Authenticity.

Pricing of the three-coin set is $9.95, plus the U.S. Mint’s standard shipping and handling charge of $4.95 per order. Orders may be placed via the United States Mint website at http://www.usmint.gov. Orders may also be placed by phone at 1-800-USA-MINT (872-6468).

America the Beautiful Quarters first made their debut in 2010 and feature reverse designs emblematic of selected sites of national interest from around the United States and its territories. The series contains five new strikes annually with the White Mountain quarter the first in 2013 and the sixteenth in the series overall.

Shown on the reverse of the White Mountain quarter is a depiction of Mt. Chocorua, the easternmost peak of the Sandwich Range, framed by birch trees. The scene was designed and executed by Phebe Hemphill. Reverse inscriptions include WHITE MOUNTAIN, NEW HAMPSHIRE, 2013 and E PLURIBUS UNUM.

On the obverse is a portrait of George Washington, the first President of the United States. The portrait is the original work of John Flanagan and first appeared on the 1932 circulating quarter dollar. It has been featured on quarters, with minor variations, ever since. Obverse inscriptions include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST and QUARTER DOLLAR.

White Mountain America the Beautiful Three-Coin Sets are not the first product to be issued by the U.S. Mint this year to contain strikes of the series. The 2013 America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Set was released on January 8, 2013 followed by the 2013 America the Beautiful Quarters Proof Set on January 24, 2013.

Circulating-quality versions of the White Mountain quarter in bags and rolls launched on January 28, 2013. In addition, the 2013 Birth Set became available on January 15, 2013. It has one proof quality White Mountain quarter.
