As announced on this site and for a quick update, the 2010 America the Beautiful Quarters Proof Set was released today at noon ET by the United States Mint for $14.95.

The clad set includes the first collector issues of the America the Beautiful Quarters, an includes the following five coins:

  • 2010-S Proof Hot Springs National Park Quarter
  • 2010-S Proof Yellowstone National Park Quarter
  • 2010-S Proof Yosemite National Park Quarter
  • 2010-S Proof Grand Canyon National Park Quarter
  • 2010-S Proof Mount Hood National Forest Site Quarter

The first time the US Mint sold a quarter-only proof set was in June of 1999, during the 50 State Quarters Program. Those were $13.95. A quarters proof set has been issued every year since, attesting to their popularity.

The set will not be the only way to get the quarters in proof. A 14-coin clad 2010 US Mint Proof Set will be available on July 22, 2010. It includes the same quarters, as well as proof versions of the other circulating coins issued this year — the four Presidential $1 coins, the Native American Dollar, the Kennedy half-dollar, the Roosevelt dime, the Jefferson nickel and the Lincoln cent. The 2010 Proof Set is more expensive, however, with an expected price tag of $31.95.

The set may be purchased from the United States Mint Web site at http://www.usmint.gov/ or by calling the Mint directly at 1-800-USA-MINT (872-6468).

There are no order limits, but if buying in quantity it is best to order them in one session since the US Mint also charges a $4.95 shipping and handling charge.
