The United States Mint has announced a public meeting on January 26, 2010, by the Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee (CCAC) to review candidate designs for next year’s 2011 America the Beautiful Quarters.
The CCAC is one of the organizations responsible for reviewing and recommending US medal and coinage designs and themes to the Secretary of the Treasury. In the America the Beautiful Quarters Program, the US Mint creates a handful of designs in line art form for each quarter-dollar, which are then reviewed, tweaked, etc. Eventually, the US Mint Director makes recommendations to the Secretary who is charged with selecting a final design for the specific national park or national site being honored.

The final designs for the five 2010 America the Beautiful Quarters are expected to be made public within weeks, although an official announcement is yet to be made by the United States Mint.
Several candidates designs were actually created by the US Mint for each of the four national parks and one national site to be honored this year — Hot Springs National Park, Yellowstone National Park, Yosemite National Park, Grand Canyon National Park and Mt. Hood National Forest in Oregon.
The proposed designs have already been vetted by the appropriate bodies, to include the Citizen’s Coinage Advisory Committee (CCAC) and the United States Commission of Fine Arts (CFA). Numismatic America the Beautiful Quarters products for 2010 were revealed when the United States Mint released its preliminary schedule for the year in late December.
It was that same schedule which unveiled the very likely release dates for the new 2010 quarters that honor Hot Springs National Park, Yellowstone National Park, Yosemite National Park, Grand Canyon National Park, and Mount Hood National Forest.
The schedule coupled with the US Mint’s already available subscription program, which enables the public to buy future coin products and have them delivered when they are released, provides a general idea of what collector quarter products to expect this year, when they will be issued, and even some preliminary prices.
Here is a table of products, schedule and prices: Continue reading America the Beautiful Quarters: Collector Products, Schedule, Prices
Editor’s update: For the latest release dates for this year’s quarters, see the updated article: 2010 America the Beautiful Quarters Release Dates.
The United States Mint has provided the America the Beautiful Quarters Release Schedule, which lists all 56 national parks and other national sites to be honored and on what year.
But it has not offered exact dates for the release of any quarter, to include the upcoming 2010 quarters which honor:
- Hot Springs National Park in Arkansas,
- Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming,
- Yosemite National Park in California,
- Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona, and
- Mt. Hood National Forest in Oregon.
However, in an unexpected move, the US Mint has published a preliminary 2010 product schedule. (During much of 2009, collectors learned of future product releases only several weeks before they happened.) The schedule is enlightening as it provides the release months for US Mint bags and rolls of the 2010 America the Beautiful Quarters.
