The very first America the Beautiful Quarters product offering from the United States Mint will be rolls and bags of the Hot Springs National Park Quarter.
The U.S. Mint this week said two-roll sets and 100-coin bags of the quarter-dollars will be available on April 19, 2010 at noon Eastern Time. The coins will be officially released into circulation on the same day.
The Hot Springs National Park Quarter is the first of the 56 quarters in the new 11-year program to honor National Parks and other National Sites in each state, DC and US Territories. Hot Springs National Park is located in Arkansas and presumably an official ceremonial launch by the Mint would occur there — an annoucement is yet to be made.
Prices for the offerings were also decided and announced. The Hot Springs National Park Two-Roll Quarter Sets includes 80 circulation strike quarter-dollars, with one roll containing 40 coins with the Philadelphia “P” mint mark and the other roll with the Denver “D” mint mark. The set is priced at $32.95, which is the same as the Mint charged in 2009 for similar rolls.
100-Coin Hot Springs National Park Quarter Bags contain circulation strikes of the quarters minted in Philadelphia or Denver. At a $35.95 price, the premiums for each bag is $10.95 and $3 more than quarter bags from 2009.
The same roll and bag prices will apply to all the 2010 America the Beautiful Quarters, according to the Mint. The remaining parks / sites that will be honored this year include: Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming, Yosemite National Park in California, Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona and Mt. Hood National Forest in Oregon.
Upon release, orders may be placed directly on the United States Mint Web site at http://www.usmint.gov/, or through their toll free number 1-800-USA-MINT (872-6468).
