Issued by the United States Mint, products with the fourth 2015-dated America the Beautiful Quarter include single rolls, two-roll sets and bags.

On the reverse (tails side) of each new quarter is a design emblematic of Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge, located in the state of Delaware. A great blue heron appears in the foreground with a great egret seen behind. United States Mint Artistic Infusion Program artist Joel Iskowitz created the design and United States Mint Sculptor-Engraver Phebe Hemphill engraved it.

Six products are offered for the Bombay Hook Quarter, and options including quarters from U.S. Mint facilities in Philadelphia, Denver and San Francisco. Of note, San Francisco quarters are only made for special collector releases such as these new rolls and bags. Philadelphia and Denver quarters are also issued for general circulation and will eventually appear in pocket change.

2015 Quarters

If you have heard about the quarters before, that is probably because they were officially introduced on September 18, 2015 during a ceremony held at the Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center.

The coins are the fourth release this year from the U.S. Mint’s America the Beautiful Quarters® Program. The complete 2015 series includes:

  • 2015 Homestead National Monument of America Quarter – released February 24, 2015
  • 2015 Kisatchie National Forest Quarter – released April 20, 2015
  • 2015 Blue Ridge Parkway Quarter – released June 29, 2015
  • 2015 Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge Quarter – this issue
  • 2015 Saratoga National Historical Park Quarter – scheduled for release on November 30, 2015

This program debuted in 2010 and features five new quarters annually with each honoring a different site of national interest. All of them offer the same basic obverse portrait of George Washington, as originally designed by John Flanagan.
