Another annual set from the United States Mint offers an attractive way to buy uncirculated versions of this year’s quarter-dollars. Starting at 12:00 noon ET on Thursday, April 25, 2013, the U.S. Mint will release its 2013 America the Beautiful Quarters Uncirculated Coin Set™.
It is the fourth annual issue to include two uncirculated quality examples of each year’s America the Beautiful Quarters. Uncirculated coins are created with extra care, not handled by human hands and machine placed into special packaging. Collectors like these extra details and the sets are fairly popular as a result. (See sales for past sets at the bottom of this article.)
Five of the 2013 quarters are from the Philadelphia Mint and five are from the Denver Mint. These are the two U.S. Mint facilities that also strike circulating United States coinage for commerce — the pennies, nickels, dimes, etc.
Within the uncirculated coin set for collectors is the following 2013 America the Beautiful Quarters:
- 2013 P&D White Mountain National Forest Site Quarter for New Hampshire
- 2013 P&D Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial Site Quarter for Ohio
- 2013 P&D Great Basin National Park Quarter for Nevada
- 2013 P&D Fort McHenry Site Quarter for Maryland
- 2013 P&D Mount Rushmore National Memorial Site Quarter for South Dakota
That is ten brilliant uncirculated coins in total with five unique reverse designs marking the sixteenth through twentieth in the ATB quarter series that was introduced in 2010. The series will run until 2021. (See quarter release dates.)
These uncirculated coins are held within an illustrated folder. The cover includes a photo of each of the national parks or national sites honored this year. In addition to the actual uncirculated America the Beautiful Quarters, inside the folder is information about the sites, quarter designers and coin specifications. There is also a Certificate of Authenticity. A larger image of the inside of folder is directly below. It may be enlarged with a click.
Pricing and Ordering
Pricing is the same as last year’s uncirculated coin set at $12.95. That is a relative bargain considering that sets from 2010 and 2011 cost $21.95 each. As of this writing, all sets except for last year’s remain available from the U.S. Mint.
Orders at the time of release may be placed online through the U.S. Mint’s website at www.usmint.gov/catalog. Those preferring to call may use 1-800-USA-MINT (872-6468).
Current sales figures for past sets follow. These were provided by the U.S. Mint on April 15, 2013.
