For $5.95, buyers can purchase this set that contains ten circulating quality 2012 America the Beautiful Quarters — five struck at the U.S. Mint facility in Philadelphia and five produced at the Mint’s facility in Denver. The coins will each bear the designating ‘P’ and ‘D’ mint marks.

Each of the coins are of the same quality as those released into commerce and from the same two facilities responsible for striking them. Specifically, the 2012 ATB quarters include:

  • Puerto Rico’s 2012 P&D El Yunque National Forest Quarters
  • New Mexico’s 2012 P&D Chaco Culture National Historical Park Quarters
  • Maine’s 2012 P&D Acadia National Park Quarters
  • Hawaii’s 2012 P&D Hawaii Volcanoes National Park Quarters
  • Alaska’s 2012 P&D Denali National Park Quarters

Denali quarters only entered circulation this past Monday, November 5, 2012.

The circulating coin set is designed with collectors in mind as the packaging opens easily so the quarter-dollars may be removed and placed into coin albums. (Coin supply companies sell albums, as does the U.S. Mint with its America the Beautiful Quarters Coin Album™ for $9.95.)

No San Francisco ‘S’ quarters are included in the set. This year, and perhaps this year only, the U.S. Mint offers San Francisco 25-cent coins in circulating quality. The facility had not struck a circulating quality coin in more than 30 years. These coins, however, are produced solely for collectors and are not released into circulation like the ‘P’ and ‘D’ America the Beautiful Quarters.

Sales of Prior Coin Sets

Currently, the previous two sets remain available from the U.S. Mint as well. They are more expensive with the 2011-dated and inaugural 2010-dated sets listed at prices of $9.95 each.

Sets are popular with collectors. U.S. Mint reported sales for each, as of November 5, 2012, have last year’s set at 21,957 and the 2010 circulating coin set at 28,342.

Where to Order Circulating Coin Set

The 2012 America the Beautiful Quarters Circulating Coin Set may be ordered directly from the United States Mint website at http://www.usmint.gov/ or by calling 1-800-USA-MINT (872-6468). A $4.95 shipping and handling fee applies to all domestic orders.

Buyers can separately purchase bags and rolls of the same circulating quality quarter-dollars from the U.S. Mint but the cost is significantly more and the received products much bulkier.
