Glacier and Olympic National Park Quarters

The United States Mint has published dates and locations for the next two America the Beautiful Quarters® release ceremonies.

There will be five quarter issues in 2011, as there was in debuting year 2010. The first 2011 Gettysburg National Military Park Quarter has already been released, with its ceremony held on January 25, 2011. The next two quarters in the America the Beautiful Quarters series are the Glacier National Park Quarter for Montana and the Olympic National Park Quarter for Washington.

The Glacier Quarter release ceremony is scheduled to take place on April 13, 2011 at 1:00 PM MT. The event will be held at Columbia Falls High School which is located at 610 13th Street West in Columbia Falls, Montana.

As has been the case with many release ceremonies over the years, the United States Mint will also hold a public coin forum on the evening prior to the launch. The forums offer the public a means to ask and learn about forthcoming Mint coins and products. The event will occur at 5:00 PM MT at the Glacier National Park Community Building at park headquarters in West Glacier, Montana.

The Glacier National Park Quarter is actually set to launch into circulation on April 4, 2011, according to the quarters release schedule published by the Federal Reserve Bank Service. It is normal for release ceremonies and circulation launches to occur on different days, although they are generally closer together.

The Olympic Quarter release ceremony is scheduled to take place on June 14, 2011 at 11 AM PT. It will be conducted at City Pier in Port Angeles, Washington. The coin forum on the prior evening will occur at 7:00 PM PT in the Olympic National Park Visitor Center located at 600 East Park Avenue in Port Angeles, Washington. The coin is scheduled to be released into circulation on June 13, 2011.

Release ceremonies typically last between 30-45 minutes. When they are over, the US Mint and other officials hand out one free coin to every child in attendance. Adults who wish may exchange cash for new rolls of the coins.

The United States Mint has not scheduled or it has at least not officially announced the dates for the remaining Vicksburg National Military Park and Chickasaw National Recreation Area quarters ceremonies. These coins are set to enter circulation on August 29 and November 14, respectively.

The America the Beautiful Quarters Program is scheduled to go on until at least 2021. By then, one national park or national site will be honored with a quarter release in each state, the District of Columbia and the six U.S. territories.
