Editor’s update: For the latest release dates for this year’s quarters, see the updated article: 2010 America the Beautiful Quarters Release Dates.
The United States Mint has provided the America the Beautiful Quarters Release Schedule, which lists all 56 national parks and other national sites to be honored and on what year.
But it has not offered exact dates for the release of any quarter, to include the upcoming 2010 quarters which honor:
- Hot Springs National Park in Arkansas,
- Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming,
- Yosemite National Park in California,
- Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona, and
- Mt. Hood National Forest in Oregon.
However, in an unexpected move, the US Mint has published a preliminary 2010 product schedule. (During much of 2009, collectors learned of future product releases only several weeks before they happened.) The schedule is enlightening as it provides the release months for US Mint bags and rolls of the 2010 America the Beautiful Quarters.
If the Mint follows tradition, the 2010 quarters will officially launch into circulation on the same day as it begins selling those bags and rolls. Here are the months the Mint has scheduled for the quarter launches:
|April||America the Beautiful Quarters™ Bags and Two-Roll Set – Hot Springs (AR)|
|June||America the Beautiful Quarters™ Bags and Two-Roll Set – Yellowstone (WY)|
|July/August||America the Beautiful Quarters™ Bags and Two-Roll Set – Yosemite (CA)|
|September||America the Beautiful Quarters™ Bags and Two-Roll Set – Grand Canyon (AZ)|
|November||America the Beautiful Quarters™ Bags and Two-Roll Set – Mount Hood (OR)|
Bags and rolls offer easy access to the coins (from both the Denver and Philadelphia Mints), as compared to searching from them in daily change after they become available. The Mint does charge a premium for the offerings, as well as a shipping and handling.
